Templarbit wins contract to help the U.S. Air Force adopt a real-time data driven approach to evaluating cyber security risk

Engagement will utilize the company’s Sonar solution to advance the military's capabilities to assess and monitor third party risk of software vendors.

Irvine, California — May 5, 2020 – Templarbit, a cyber security company specializing in big data solutions that help software teams assess and monitor the security posture of software systems, announced today that it was awarded a Phase 1 contract from the United States Air Force. Templarbit’s platform will be available to software teams inside the Air Force to help identify security risk across the renewed application and API landscape.

Templarbit’s Sonar technology uses a cloud based platform to continuously monitor and analyze the risk of web based software systems. After identifying issues in real time Templarbit will provide actionable data on how to eliminate that risk and improve the security posture on a system. This addresses a number of challenges the Air Force and other U.S. Department of Defense commands are currently facing. Sonar provides a fast, frictionless and scalable way to manage software vendor risk, eliminating the slow, manually, and error prone process that is in place today.

The Air Force SBIR program is a joint initiative with the Navy and Army, providing competitive awards to enable innovative small businesses to demonstrate their technology potential within the Department of Defense. Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) and AFWERX, an Air Force innovation community, have partnered to streamline the SBIR to speed up the experience, broaden the pool of potential applicants, and decrease bureaucratic overhead.

“Getting to work with the U.S. military on this SBIR Phase 1 award is an excellent opportunity for our team to show off the capabilities of our security platform and help the Air Force adopt a more data driven process to assessing software risk.” said Bjoern Zinssmeister, CEO of Templarbit.
Interest in Sonar has also increased among fellow defense contractors that provide software services to the U.S. military, several of which have utilized the Templarbit platform to successfully evaluate and improve the security across their software supply chain.
“In today's connected world it is about business relationships and using security data to build trust between two parties.” said Bjoern.

Templarbit’s high-performance data pipe and complex algorithms are running in real-time, and automatic remediation translates into a significant reduction in time spent on assessments. And, with a single-pane view of all data and global assets across a software chain, organizations gain full visibility of their vendor risk with minimal effort.
